Our Commitment

At Grand Valley Soccer Association (GVSA), soccer is more than just a game—it’s a community. The Respect Campaign is dedicated to ensuring that every match played across our league is safe, positive, and enjoyable for everyone involved. Whether you are on the field, on the sidelines, or managing from the bench, respect starts with you.

Core Principles & Guidelines

For Players:

Respect the Referees: Accept all official decisions without argument or gesture.

Support Your Teammates: Encourage one another through wins, losses, and mistakes.

Honor the Competition: Play hard, play fair, and always shake hands after the final whistle.

For Coaches:

Model Self-Control: Maintain composure toward officials, opposing coaches, and players at all times.

Prioritize Growth: Focus on player development, teamwork, and character over winning at all costs.

Set Sideline Standards: Proactively manage your team's parents and spectators to maintain a safe environment.

For Families & Spectators:

Be Positive Champions: Cheer enthusiastically for good plays by both teams.

Let the Coaches Coach: Refrain from shouting tactical instructions to players during play.

Zero Tolerance for Abuse: Verbal abuse, harassment, or aggressive behavior toward referees, coaches, or players will not be tolerated 

For Clubs: Cultivate the Standard

Set Clear Expectations: Communicate respect guidelines clearly to all members at the start of each season.

Enforce Accountability: Take swift, consistent action when sportsmanship standards are violated.

Celebrate Positive Culture: Recognize players, coaches, and parents who embody exemplary sportsmanship.
